DIY: Notebook Cover

So a few days ago I went down to Korea town with a few friends and went into a handmade paper and gift shop.
They sold these empty note/sketch books with no covers, just the pages. On the side they sold separate cardboard covers that you could buy and decorate for your book. All you had to do was glue it to the spine of the book after. I wanted my sketchbook to be flexible though, so I didn't bother to buy a cover. Instead, I just made my own cover.. which I have to say turned out pretty nice :3 and was fairly simple to do. You can do this to fancy up your old notebooks too...

Supplies;

-Notebook
-Scrapbook paper (or what ever you want to use for your cover design)
-Hot glue gun (with glue)
-Glue stick
-Scissor or an x-acto knife
-Ruler



1) Find a notebook you want to revamp.


2) Get your cover paper, making sure it will wrap around your whole notebook.


3) Measure out the length and width of the notebook and ruler it out on your papaer. Add 1cm to each side, giving it some glue allowance. Cut it out.


4) Adjust your notebook on your paper making sure it matches up with your ruled lines. Test wrap it out around your notebook, making sure it it big enough to cover the whole notebook. Make creases on the paper around the spine. This will show you where your spine will be glued to on the paper. Using the crease, make a nice crisp fold for the spine and cut off the 1cm glue allowance on only the spine area of the paper. (TIP: put tape on the folds of the spine on the inside of the paper to prevent from ripping)


5) Apply glue on the spine of the notebook and quickly glue it down to the paper.


6) Fold over the 1cm glue allowance onto the inner side of the notebook. Using a glue stick, glue down the folds. You can use hot glue to glue down the corner parts if yoru glue stick doesn't stick. Let it completely dry.
