YAD marooned in Centre Island!
Spent 12+ hours with my temple youth group which is always fun!
We went to Central Island for some team bonding with new and old members, trying to gain a connection with everyone and be more of a family. This well planned event came out as a success! And to be honest, one of the biggest group events we've had in a while!
After doing some ice-breakers and doing some embarrassing dancing with Fabian, we headed of to do some quadricycling!! Not only was it fun, it really took lots of encouraging, communicating and team work to get from last (which was us) to first! (which was also us! :D )
We got to play on the beach for just a while, but we headed right up to the snail trail for our discussion afterwards. I thought that the discussion was actually really important because it definitely got everyone to speak their opinions about what went right and what went wrong. The question session we did afterwards talking about Buddhism was I think the interesting point of the discussion, which even got my sister interested which is... REALLY good, since she always tried to make fun of me for going to the temple so often.
Last but not least... was the scavenger hunt! Save the best for last right??
Well this was the best activity of the day. We got a list of 'things' that we usually take for granted. On the list, it had items like: item to tell time, flower, picture of an SOS, a grandmother (which was hilarious because we basically asked 4 of them, and the last one, we had to fight with another group for) and items such as soap, etc. In the end, our group came in first with lots of brainstorming, and running, but I have to say, some of the groups got really creative.
the poor grandmother we all attacked
All in all, a super good day! The 40% rain held off till the night ,some of us went out to eat dinner in the Old Spaghetti Factory, and the very next day... we all went back to the temple for a 3 hour meeting. Woo!
